Ankpa: Appeal Court Pronounce Ogbe as Onu Ojoku, Depose Alfa

Kogi State government has installed Alhaji Muhammed Ogbe as the new second class Onu Ojoku in Ankpa Local Government Area.

Conveying the decision of the government on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello, the Special Adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, who addressed both the deposed Onu Ojoku Alhaji Muhammed Alfa Idris and the newly installed Onu Ojoku Chief Muhammed Ogbe, said the decision of the government was based on the February 6, 2018 Appeal Court judgement in Abuja, which deposed Alhaji Muhammed Alfa Idris and pronounced Chief Muhammed Ogbe as the rightful Onu Ojoku.

Engr. Ohere reiterated the unwavering position of the government Yahaya Bello in obeying court orders and his special allegiance to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

He stated further that the state government will continue to follow due process in handling chieftaincy matters in the state. He called on the people of Ojoku and the entire Ankpa local government area to give their allegiance to the new Onu Ojoku.

He urge the Igala Area Traditional Council and the Ankpa Local Government to comply with the court order of recognizing Mallam Muhammed Ogbe, as the Onu of Ojoku as there is no order for stay execution by any court of law and more importantly the judgement is yet to be set aside, the special adviser explained.

In his remark, the sole Administrator of Ankpa Local Government Area, Hon. Muhammed said he was glad that the Chieftaincy tussle which has lingered for nineteen years has come to an end. He maintained as the chief security officer of Ankpa local government area, he will maintain peace and order in the area.

The new Onu Ojoku, Chief Muhammed Ogbe thanked the state government for implementing the Appeal Court decision which installed him as the new Onu Ojoku.

He stressed that he will ever remain grateful to the state government for her transparency and obedience to the nation’s constitution.

Chief Ogbe said what happened is the will of God and added that he will always do his best to maintain peace in his domain and ensure that his subjects are law abiding at all time.
