The Nigerian police have today further demonstrated its insincerity and inconsistency as the trial judge presiding on the litigation of the assassination  attempt on Senator Dino Melaye, involving the administrator of Ijumu Local Government, Taofiq Isa and four others: Ade Obege, Abdullahi Isah, Michael Bamidele and Ahmed Ajayi struck out the case for lack of diligent prosecution.
It could be recalled that sometime in April 2017, the Police Public Relations officer, Moshood Jimoh paraded the Chairman Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Taofiq Isah and five others over alleged assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye.
The Police spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood while parading the suspects at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, said weapons and an ambulance used as operation vehicle was recovered from the suspects.
He said following the attack by unknown gunmen on Senator Dino Melaye at his residence at Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA in Kogi State, on 15th April, 2017 at about 12:30 am, the IGP ordered the Police Special Tactical Squad (STS) to investigate the matter.
While addressing the press, CSP Jimoh Moshood said after ten days of investigation between 16/04/2017 and 25/04/2017, the Police arrested six members of the assassination gang responsible for the attack.
He further said the principal suspect is Taofiq Isah who allegedly master minded the execution attempt.  Isah was alleged to have directed one Abdulmumini a.k.a Iron, now at large, said to be his personal assistant, to recruit other members of the assassination gang.
The other five arrested suspects include; Ade Obage, Abdullahi a.k.a Eko, Ahmed Ajayi, Michael Bamidele and Ex-Police Sgt Ede James.
The police Moshood explained that another suspect still at large, Abdullahi a.k.a Iron, was instructed to recruit the arrested suspects with four others; Osama, Lukman, China and Adamu Aloha all at large to assassinate Melaye.
Although, while fielding questions from journalists, Ijumu local government Chairman, Taofiq Isah denied the allegation as a set up and a charade. He admitted political disagreement with Melaye, but said he was not connected to the assassination attempt on Dino Melaye.
The police equally confirmed that exhibits recovered from the suspects include; one Ambulance Hyundai Bus, 5 AK 47 rifles, one Berreta pistol, 2 locally made single barrel shot gun, 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition and 12 expended shells guage cartridge.
Moshood said the firearms have been sent for ballistic expert examination, test and analysis at the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department Lagos.
For the prosecutor, (NPF) to be absent from court for four consecutive seatings is an evidence of conspiracy between the Kogi State Government, the accused and the Nigerian Police Force.
This is laughable as Nigerians are watching how justice is been assaulted and destroyed on the altar of high level connivance. Nigerians and the international community  are being fully alerted on this colossal degradation  of the temple of justice by an arm of government that is created and funded to ensure that the full weight of the law is brought to bear on societal miscreants  and criminals. The Nigerian society and the international  community at large are watching this damage of our democracy.
