Sir,
In the last couple of days we were woken to the annoying news of your acclaimed interest to contest for the Senate, as if that was not enough, your new alliance with the Yahaya Bello led government was unveil in Edward Onoja’s Independence Day message to Kogite.
A message I call the relics and regurgitation of a government characterised with constant excesses, oligarchy and all forms of tyrannism.
Sir, this decision, this alliance (if true) has become a disturbing issue to my self and to every well meaning Kogite, who is dissatisfied with the present condition of our dear state.
I want to note here, that I do not write to you as a member of the PDP, nor do I write to you as a member of the APC, I do not even write to you as a fellow Igala man, I write to you as a concerned Kogi patriot.
Of course, there is a high level of poverty in Kogi state. Of course, the state has been exposed to a high level of tyrannism, oppression, expliotation, nepotism, man hunting, molestation and most of all deceit. Of course, they don’t look like they will ever repent, thus there is a large need to insist for a true change in the governing process of the state and to archive this we need a man of the people to rally behind.
I am not saying you are the right man for the job, but I am saying you are one of the pillars that the solution to the Kogi problem rest upon and any form of alliance you permit with the present government does not only question your integrity as a man of the people.
It also question the sincerity of your acclaimed love for the people, it question the philosophy of your political ambitions and most of all it prompts a doubt of who you were and who you have become.
Or better still, who frustration has turned you into.
Sir, you must understand that the well being of our state is the greatest ambition and patriotism you or any acclaimed Kogi politician can ever insist for the state, thus any relationship you build with the present government that has brought all forms of hardship upon our state is a complete betrayer of the people and a sabotaging of the continuous struggle and advocacy for good governance that so many Kogites have been threatened, arrested and even killed for.
Therefore, I challenge you to act like an elder statesman. I challenge you to be conscious of the luring efforts of the present government to deprive you of a better opportunity to serve your fatherland and your dear state.
Most of all, I challenge you to at this point ignore personal gains, personal ambitions, personal concerns and if possible, personal frustrations and let us see how we can salvage our dear state from the hands of these lions.
Kogi will be free again, but first we must stand as one irrespective of our political parties, our tribe and our individual interest.
We must come together and deny every alliance with the oppressors, and insist for true democracy and a better leadership.
Of course, we can not achieve all this without you on our side sir. So I plead with you to choose the side of the people and not the side of the oppressors.
God bless you as Kogites wait to know your decision.
My regards to your family.
