The Concerned Ijumu Citizens is a group of progressive and like-minded persons in the Ijumu Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi State, who are committed to ideals that will enhance equity, fairness, and justice.
We wish to use this rare privilege to salute the doggedness of His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State, for his disposition to “Rule of Law, fairness and justice”.
These attributes have made our amiable Governor unique and outstanding in the history of Governorship in our dear State, and we wish to applaud him for doing the talk.

However, it is with displeasure that we wish to draw the attention of our dogged and pragmatic Governor to an issue that will decide the future of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in our Local Government.
This issue is concerning the way and manner in which the Auditor General for Local Government in Kogi State, Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege has been allegedly fronting for one of the Aspirants for the House of Assembly.
This support was obvious during a recent burial in Ayetoro Gbede when he brought a delegation with Fez caps, carrying an inscription that openly shows that he is supporting Obanewo Titus Femi.
The activities, no doubt, will cause division in our Party as interference in affairs of APC in Ijumu LGA by the Auditor General for Local Government is a sign of total disrespect to the Elders and Leaders of the party.
We are aware that the Governor holds Leaders in Ijumu Local Government Area, such as Hon. Abiodun James Faleke, Chief Olushola Akanmode, Chief Abiodun Ojo and Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji in high esteem.
Where we have these Leaders of impeccable character as well as Political Appointees, does the Auditor General for Local Government know more than them?
How can a man from Okehi Local Government Area impose an unpopular Candidate on the people of Ijumu Local Government Area?
Did His Excellency appoint him to interfere in the Politics of Ijumu Local Government or to oversee the audit of the whole Local Government Areas of the State?
We want to categorically state that Ijumu is organised, and we have our ways of making choices of who gets what Political position. Zoning is one of the legacies of the founding fathers of the Ijumu Kingdom, and it has been engendering unity and peace for years.
While we pledge our unflinching support and loyalty to the party, we want to appeal to the Governor to caution Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege, as any attempt to change the will of the Ijumu people will cause the Party to lose come 2027.
Similarly, attempts in the past to circumvent the wishes of the people were resisted by the people at the general elections, making the anointed candidate fail woefully.
The Auditor General should know his boundaries, as Ijumu is not Okehi; let him face what he was appointed for.
His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State, must intervene in this matter as we are watching everything as it unfolds.
Signed:
Comrade Samuel Dada
Convener
