Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday issued Certificates of Return to Okene II House of Assembly member-elect, Hon. Ahmed Dahiru alongside other victorious candidates in the state.

Giving him the certificates at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, INEC Resident Commissioner, Prof. James Apam congratulated the electorates in Okene II for choosing their preferred candidate and also congratulated other State Assembly members-elect in the state.

In his remarks, Hon. Ahmed Dahiru (HACCO) dedicated his victory to God and thanked Okene II electorates for the privilege given him to serve them for the next four years. He assured the electorate that he will not disappoint them.

“I am very grateful to the thousands of citizens who voted for me, those who contributed in many ways in the running of our successful campaign, and those at home and beyond who expressed confidence in me and the APC government.

“I want to assure that we will engage all parties that have the best interest of Okene II at heart. Our government will remain inclusive and our doors will remain open. That is the way to build the constituency of our dream; safe, secure, prosperous, and free of impunity and primitive accumulation by those entrusted with public offices.

“The memory Mallam Yusuf Otaru is really sad and a great loss indeed to all of us who have had contact with him; Okene and the entire APC. He was a great, lively, good hearted and cool personality. May Almighty Allah
give his family courage and patience as we pray his soul continues rest in perfect peace,” he said.

Hon. Hacco promised to look at the issues raised by those who did not vote for him in order to give Okene II the best.

He restated his commitment to serve the people of the state especially the common people and work hard to leave the constituency better.

He commended INEC in the state for conducting what he called the freest election in the country and the security agencies for ensuring peace throughout the polls and after.

“Election is not war, and should never be seen as a do or die affair. I pray that we all accept this democratic approach to elections, however contentious.”
