The long drawn traditional stool tussle between warring parties in Odokoro-Gbede communities, Ijumu Local Government area of Kogi state which has left them without a king for the past 16 years has finally been settled with the coronation of a new king, yesterday.
The reconciliation of the warring actors which was carried out by the council Administrator, Taofiq Isa followed the directive of the state governor, Yahaya Bello to the 21 LGAs administrators to ensure amicable settlement of crises in all their communities.
In line with the directive issued by the governor, the Administrator of Ijumu local government area who doubled as the State ALGON chairman, Taofiq Isa swung into action to resolved the lingering crisis that engulfed the Odokoro-Gbede community which left them without a paramount ruler in the last 16 years.
The reconciliatory steps yielded result when all the agitators resolved their differences paving way for Isa Abdul Ganiyu Elewonibi (11) to be installed as the Olu of Odokoro Gbede on Wednesday.
Speaking at the coronation ceremony, the acting Chairman, Ijumu Traditional Council, Oba Ibrahim Momoh said Abdul Ganiyu deserved the long agitated royal stool, noting that he is the rightful person to occupy the exalted position.
The newly coronated Olu of Odokoro-Gbede, Oba Isa Elewonibi on his own eulogised the people of the community and the state for the support given to him.
State Commissioner for Education, Sunday Tolorunleke, who also represented the governor at the ceremony said the truce reached was made possible because of the governor’s peace agenda, thanked the council administrator, Taofiq Isah for his leadership qualities in resolving the 16 years rulership tussle.
