AEDC Staff Electrocuted in Lokoja

32-year old Muhammadu Buhari, said to be a casual staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Plc, was on Thursday electrocuted while working on high tension wire in Madabo area of Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

The deceased, a father of one, had gone to Madabo transformer point around 9: 30am to rectify a fault at the pole when the incidence occurred.

There was power outage which was expected to be restored by 10:00am when the deceased mounted the pole.

It was reliably gathered that when the deceased mounted the pole and in the process of rectifying the fault power was suddenly restored 30 minutes ahead of time.

The source said Buhari was instantly electrocuted, adding that his corpse was later evacuated by good Samaritans from the area.

The deceased is survived by his mother, sister and brother, among who is Sani Karachi, a popular Lokoja horse rider and politician.

Efforts to reach the officials of the AEDC to confirm the incident proved difficult as the authorities were said to have gone to the Police Station to report the incident before making any statement.

Similarly, all efforts to reach the Police Public Relations officer to confirm the incidence proved abortive as he was not picking his calls
