Aderonke Aro Appeals to Kogi Govt to Reconstruct Egbe-Ogbe Road

Member representing Yagba West constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Aderonke Aro has appealed to the Kogi state government to reconstruct the Egbe-Ogbe road in a bid to reduce the suffering of constituents who ply the road.

Speaking on the floor of the House on Tuesday, Aro stated that the road needs urgent attention to forestall the total breakdown of the access road between the two communities.

He also appealed to the state government to direct the state Ministry of Works to carry out an on the spot assessment of the road with a view to putting in place appropriate measures that would help motorists and residents make use of the road in the interim before its reconstruction.

He said the appeal have become imperative in view of the dangers the road poses to residents of the two communities and travellers plying the road. He lamented that the journey from Egbe to Ogbe which should not be more than an hour is now eight hours, adding that residents could no longer access good health facilities and sell their farm products to the outside world with ease as they have to pass through alternative road in Ekiti State.

Member representing Ankpa II, Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu and his Yagba East counterpart, Hon Musa Jimoh, in separate remarks, supported the matter of public importance, stressing the importance of the road to Kogites.

Hon Jimoh Musa specifically aligned himself to the second appeal in view of the economic situation of the state.

Ruling on the motion, the Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole said the motion is of great urgency to the public in view of the fact that it is raining season.

He added that untarred roads are not friendly to motorists during the raining season and thereafter put the motion into vote which had the support of all members.

He mandated the Clerk to communicate the resolution of the House to the state Governor.
