About 250 persons have so far benefited from the ongoing free eye treatment in Adavi local government area of Kogi State.
Benjamin Franklin Eye Foundation in collaboration with the Adavi local government council commenced the eye treatment outreach in Kuroko on Monday.
The Coordinator of the NGO, Mr Franklin said the foundation is committed to the prevention of avoidable blindness amongst the less privileged.
The Administrator of Adavi local government, Hon. Joseph Salami declared the exercise open. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Muhammed Musa, the Administrator assured residents of his readiness to bring more social services to palliate their suffering. He stated that the free treatment was based on his administration’s effort to curtail preventable blindness as well bring succour to the less privileged.
He urged the patients to go and get their PVC in order to vote in Governor Yahaya Bello and President Buhari in the forthcoming elections.
The head of Kuroko ward, Alh. Isyaka Omonowo expressed happiness on the special recognition accorded his ward by kick-starting the free eye treatments his domain.
He assured the council boss of their unflinching support to give bulk votes to President Buhari and Gov. Bello in the forthcoming general election in 2019.
Mall. Maliki, a beneficiary of the programme, disclosed that he has been suffering from eye problem for years, adding that he didn’t pay for a kobo and every process he underwent for the treatment was for free. He prayed to almighty Allah to protect and guide Gov. Bello and the Administrator for helping him regain his clear sight.
