The Executive Chairman of Adavi local government of Kogi state, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami has commenced expansion project at the Ogaminana central market.

The expansion works involving building of more shops in the popular market is coming on the heels of the completion of perimeter fencing and demarcation of the market from highway.

In a statement issued by the chairman’s media aide, Jamiu Habeeb, on Wednesday, the council boss expressed satisfaction with the ongoing project and commended the project supervisor.

The council spokesman said the council boss has also put some measures in place to safeguard lives and property of the traders and road users with a task-force put in place to watch and monitor the activities of traders.

Habeeb stated that the local government chairman built toilets and motorized boreholes to serve the market users and the host community.

“Hygiene is also of great importance as he has also ensured that food items are properly covered. A few weeks later, after the completion of the fence, Hon. Joseph Omuya gave the approval to create more space, and instructed the council Supervisor for Works/Land/Housing to start building more shops in the market,” he said.

In the course of the inspection tour, the council chairman interacted with some of the traders and they all commended his efforts and prayed for him and his entire cabinet members.

“We are committed to quality representation at all times, and we will ensure that the welfare of our people is prioritized. The team is doing a very great job and must be commended. God bless everyone for cooperating with us,” the council chairman said.
