Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has further demonstrated his administration’s dedication to improving access to clean water by donating a multimillion-naira water drilling machine to the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).
Governor Ododo urged the management of RUWASSA to ensure the proper maintenance of the drilling equipment and other water facilities to maximize the impact of the initiative.
He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing the people of Kogi state with access to clean and potable water.
This initiative, he said, aims to boost water supply across communities in the state, particularly in rural areas where access to potable water is often limited.
The commissioning of the drilling machine, which took place in Lokoja on Thursday, was attended by key stakeholders, including the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Comfort Nwuchola Egwuaba, who represented the Governor.

Hon. Egwuaba emphasized the administration’s commitment to ending water scarcity in the state, emphasizing Governor Ododo’s resolve to address this critical issue.


The Commissioner of Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Farouk, highlighted the Governor’s efforts since assuming office to revive water supply in the state. He noted that the ministry has achieved significant progress in supplying potable water to residents of Lokoja through a well-designed ration system. Engr. Farouk also assured the public that more improvements in water supply are forthcoming.
The General Manager of RUWASSA, Hon. Ahovi Salami Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s gesture, describing it as a crucial step toward alleviating the suffering of people in rural areas.
He pledged that the agency would complement the government’s efforts by working to ensure that every community across the state’s three senatorial districts has access to clean water.
