Yesterday, at the student orientation program at Federal University Lokoja (FUL), the Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Women Mobilization to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Charity, urged students to shun internet fraud (Yahoo) and embrace contentment.
She advised them to continue drinking the garri they have in peace so they won’t be taken back to their parents in pieces.
“As a student, you should be concerned if a fellow student gives you N200,000. You need to ask yourself how they are earning such an amount while still in school. You are given a hostel to stay in, but you choose to live in an apartment worth N300,000, paid for by your so-called boyfriend, without questioning his source of income. You should know that if necessary, he might even take your intestines to sustain his wealth.
“Engaging in internet fraud (Yahoo) is a lifestyle that can negatively affect your mental well-being. You have to stay awake at night when others are sleeping just to ‘bomb’ and ‘pick,’ as they call it. What happens in the morning during lectures? You end up sleeping in class while lessons are ongoing.
“The future of Nigeria is in our hands, the future of Kogi State is in our hands. If we build it on the foundation of instant gratification and fraudulent ways of making money, we are in trouble. Stay away from drugs that can ruin your future. It is better to return to your parents with your certificate than to be taken home butchered by Yahoo boys,” she added.
