The Kogi International Carnival (KIC) 2024 project implementation team, led by the Chairman of Kogi Hotels and Tourism Board, Prince Philip Orebiyi alongside other key committee members from Kogi West Senatorial District, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi.

KIC is a vibrant celebration of Kogi’s rich cultural heritage. This spectacular event promises to showcase the
beauty and diversity of Kogi State, providing a unique opportunity for cultural exchange, business networking, and entertainment. Key highlights are Cultural Exhibitions, Business Opportunities and Entertainment.

Kabba is one of the four designated centres earmarked by the hardworking team to host the seven-day Carnival as the event spreads through the three senatorial districts, between December 1 and December 7, 2024 culminating in the Kogi State capital, Lokoja.

Other cities scheduled as co-hosts for the event are Idah and Okene, in East and Central Senatorial Districts, respectively.

The meeting with the Obaro and tour of sites in Kabba reportedly focused on the hosting preparations on the part of Kogi West. The team, according to Orebiyi was warmly received by Obaro, who also gave his express endorsement to the fiesta. The Obaro, he noted, praised the initiative, describing it as innovative and underscoring its significance during this period.

During his presentation, the Kogi west coordinator of the carnival, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan shed light on the importance of the event and the need for sustainability. Potential venues explored by the team include the Kabba Mini- Stadium, a prime location for large-scale events, the Peacock Resort, an ideal spot for cultural exhibitions, and performances, among others.

“This courtesy visit marks a significant step towards making the Kogi International Carnival a resounding success in Kabba”, Mokikan said
