- Lauds SIEC for transparent, peaceful process
The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, on Saturday, joined other voters to cast his ballot at his 012, Eddoh Polling Unit of Kakanda Ward in Lokoja Local Government Area.
This is as other voters across the state also lined up in various polling units to vote for their preferred candidates in the 2024 Local Government Election in the state.
In a press statement signed and made available to the media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, the Speaker described the process election as transparent and hitch free, praising the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) for a commendable job.
The speaker noted that the orderliness and peaceful conduct of the voters also contributed to the incident free nature of the exercise, something he expressed pride in.
He also used the opportunity to praise the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for creating the enabling environment for the state electoral umpire to succeed, stressing that it has further created trust in the minds of the people of the state about future elections in the state.
While calling on all stakeholders in the election to accept the verdict at the end of the poll and encourage their supporters to do the same, he noted that the record of the current administration has shown that it enjoys overwhelming support from the grassroots.
He thanked the APC stakeholders for standing firm and uniting for possible victory for the party, and expressed confidence and belief in a landslide victory for the ruling party.
The Speaker, who assured the people of the state that the party would not betray them, noted that the policies of Governor Ododo has so far shown that Kogi State is headed in the right direction and that the future is bright under the current government.
He said the incoming APC Chairmen and councillors would toe the path of the current government by domesticating the policies of the administration further down at the lowest level of governance in the Wards.
