The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has described the Saturday Local Government election in Kogi State as a mockery to Nigeria democracy.

The CNPP Chairman in Kogi State, Comrade Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

He berated the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission for allegedly deceiving the people that they are conducting election, insisting that there was no Local Government election in Kogi State.

The statement reads in part:

“This is the biggest mockery in the 21st century. We thought that our democracy has grown, but unknowingly to us, we are 10 steps background.

“Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission has once again display there incompetency as regards to the conduct of council poll. The fillers we are getting across the 21 Local Government revealed that more than 90 percent of the wards in Kogi State, election is not taking place.

“The All Progressive Congress in Kogi State has failed the people. They have denied Kogites their civic responsibilities to elect their leaders at the grassroot.

“The Government should come out plain that they want to hand pick Local Government Chairmen and Councillors rather than hiding under the pretense of conducting an audio election. The action of the present administration in Kogi State is a rape of Nigeria democracy and will not be accepted in it entirety”.
