Mopa community, under the rulership of its paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, has proposed to partner with Kogi State Ministry of Science and Technology and College of Education Technical (COET), Mopa, on the operatorship of the gold processing plant in the area.
The community made the proposal through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) in Mopa on Tuesday with the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Helen Adeniyi and the Provost, College of Education Technical, Mopa, Dr. Victoria Jagboro.
Recall that the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel in May 2023 commissioned the gold processing plant, Mopa.
Chairman of the Elulu Policy and Project Implementation Committee (EPPIC), Hon. Jesse Abayomi Oloke said the community seeks partnership for the operation in order to help achieve the aim of the Ministry of Mines and Steel for the establishment of the gold plant in Mopa.
Oba Ibeun said the plant can not be left to be inoperative and urged the state government to support the community, adding that the economic advantage for Kogi State can not be over emphasized.
The Commissioner and Provost unanimously lauded the insight of the community under the rulership of Oba Ibeun to ensure the gold plant lives up to the purpose of its establishment in Mopa and Kogi State, they assured the community for every necessary support to make sure the gold plant is operative.
Other persons representing the community and Mopa Traditional Council during the meeting are Oba of Okeguru, His Royal Highness, Oba Williams Olushola Agbaje; Baale of Ikeji, Chief Phillip Shola Mofobi; Obajagun of Mopa, Chief Samuel Idowu Omokore and Hon. Michael Olorunju.
