A long time supporter of Senator Dino Melaye, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mokikan, alonside over two hundred supporters joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
The defectors were received by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folashade Ayoade and other top government functionaries from Bunu District at Aiyetoro Kiri Ward, Kabba-Bunu local government area.
Dr Ayoade, while speaking at the ceremony, described the coming of Otunba Mokikan, a long time loyalist of the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election as a good step towards developing the state together.
She assured the defectors that they will not regret their actions, urging the ward and local government executives to receive them wholeheartedly.
According to her, the doors of the ruling party are open to anyone or group that is ready to contribute to the progress of APC and Kogi state.
She paid glowing tributes to appointees of former Governor Yahaya Bello and current Governor Usman Ododo from Bunu land who have contributed immensely to the success stories of the APC led government in the State.
On his part, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Hon. Duro Meseko, described Otunba Mokikan as a grassroots mobilizer, expressing delight over his defection to the party.
He used the occasion to express satisfaction with appointees from Bunu land for making the district proud in the task of providing democracy dividends to Okun people.
Responding, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan stated that his coming to APC was based on his passion to unite the party for greater performance, saying he is ready to better the lot of the party in the community, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi and Nigeria in general.
