Our Geography

In the realm of knowledge, a seed was sown,
A vision upheld, a dream to be shown.
Through the corridors of academia, it spread,
The Department of Geographical Sciences ahead.

Oh, Kogi State University, Kabba a place so grand,
Where minds converge, where aspirations stand,
With awe-inspiring beauty, nature’s own art,
It’s here that geography finds its fresh start.

A tapestry woven, in landscapes diverse,
From mountains majestic to rivers that traverse,
The Earth’s mysteries, unveiled through time,
In the heart of Kogi State, wisdom will climb.

The scholars embarked on a noble quest,
To understand the world, its every behest,
In harmony with nature, charting the course,
Exploring the Earth’s secrets with unyielding force.

Under the banner of Geography’s domain,
Five programmes emerge, like stars in a celestial plain,
Geomatics, Meteorology, Climate Change Science and Management,
Environmental management and sustainability too.

Geography as a bridge, connecting the dots,
Unraveling stories of forgotten spots,
From the two great rivers to the delta, brown earth resources to the black and green gold,
The Department of Geographical Sciences takes pride.

Through research and study, minds intertwine,
Students and faculty, seeking truths that align,
To nurture, to learn, to ignite the flame,
In the pursuit of knowledge, geography’s name.

Oh, let us rejoice, for this new venture birthed,
A sanctuary of learning, where wisdom’s worth,
The Department of Geographical Sciences, oh so grand,
At Kogi State University, Kabba where futures expand.

May its halls echo with passion and zeal,
As Geographers forge their voyage, their field,
Forever we stand, in unity and grace,
Embracing geography’s wisdom, in this sacred space.

Oh hail the Kogi State University, Kabba.
The Pacesetter in Geographic Education
…..to beat the best and be the best.
