Kogi West Governorship Awareness Movement (K.W.G.A.M) is a pan-Kogi West socio-political group working assiduously to create strong awareness and support for Kogi West to produce the next Governor of Kogi State come 27th January, 2024.

Three amiable sons of Kogi West district namely Senator Dino Melaye (PDP); Hon. Leke Abejide (ADC); and Mr. Olayinka Braimoh (AA); are the candidates from the district. All candidates from Kogi West must see one another as brothers and they should show all attributes of brotherliness to themselves, Okun agenda should be paramount to them all.

For Kogi West senatorial district to secure electoral victory through any of these gentlemen, there is the urgent need to produce a consensus candidate that will slug it out with the other candidates from Kogi East and Kogi Central.

Unfortunately, and to our best knowledge, leaders from Kogi West have not been able to successfully fashion out the best process of arriving at providing a consensus candidate for the Senatorial district.

Kogi West Governorship Awareness Movement is seriously worried about the activities of some groups from the district that seem to be working at cross-roads towards securing the aim and objective of Kogi West. Our goal is to produce the next governor for the State.

Some of these groups include: Kogi West Elders Forum, Okun Think Tank and West and Central Coalition Forum, among others. These groups seem to find it difficult to achieve the goals set by the people of Kogi West to have a consensus candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in the State, there is no serious cohesion among them. To achieve success, all these groups must establish a strong synergy and work hard to produce a sole candidate for Kogi West.

Our group would have loved it so well to see that these groups and other concerned groups bring their meeting points to Lokoja or any other part of Kogi West instead of Abuja, so that many of us back at home can easily have ample opportunity to discuss the Kogi West political agenda with them.

We want to recommend that the traditional rulers and the youths from the senatorial district should be contacted, involved and carried along in the course of selecting a consensus candidate for Kogi West.

The Youths have the largest voting strength (about 70%) and as such, they have very important role to play in determining who should lead them/us. The youths want to be heard and represented in all groups and to be part of decision-making of Kogi West, so that they can voice out their minds since they are our future leaders.

With much respect to all our elders, and opinion leaders from Kogi West, we appeal that they should act fast with much precision and cohesion to help resolve the issue of having a consensus candidate for Kogi West as other zones already have gone pass this level  currently thriving hard to achieve more gains in our disunity. We cannot go to the polls with a divided house; we must unite and deliver Kogi West from shame, and injustice. One thing is sure, we can achieve whatever we desire to achieve if the STRONGWILL is there.

Before we end this message, Kogi West Governorship Awareness Movement is appealing to our leaders and elders to kindly carry the youths along before issuing their press releases to the public.

We use this opportunity too, to plead with all pressure groups from Kogi West to come together to collaborate and stop throwing abusive and degrading words at one another.

Finally, we want to use this medium to thank and commend our elders and leaders from Kogi West for their efforts, time, resources and kind support for the task ahead. It must be clearly stated here that your performance will be measured and applauded when a consensus candidate emerges before campaign begun to enable Kogi West have common front before the poll. Please do not relent in your effort towards this onerous task. We are very proud of you all. God will continue to sustain you and grant you sound health.

Signed:

Olusegun Abraham
Secretary, KWGAM
