The Head of Media, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Organization, David Itopa, has resigned from all campaign activities relating to the senatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi Central.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Itopa said his action is premised on the need to take care of pressing personal issues which demand his immediate attention.

Itopa, popularly known as History, resigned his position shortly after he was released from DSS’s custody.

He, however, reiterated his avowed loyalty to the party.

“I want to sincerely use this opportunity to thank leaders and members of my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), my family members and everyone who stood by me and reached out to me throughout my trying times.

“It is not news that I have always been and will always remain a committed member of the PDP, however, for personal reasons, I wish to tender my resignation from the Kogi Central PDP and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Campaign Council as the head of Media committee.

“I sincerely wish the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, success in the 2023 general elections,” he said.

Kogireports gathered that Itopa was invited few days ago for questioning by the security agency and was subsequently detained. He was released after thorough questioning by DSS officials in Lokoja, Kogi state capital and was found innocent of all allegations that prompted his detention.

Sources close to Itopa, who confided in our correspondent, said he felt betrayed by his principal who showed no interest in his ordeal.
