A former chairmanship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Comrade Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel has sympathized with Kogi state government and victims of flood disaster in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ajagun described the flood as an unavoidable natural disaster which has caused lots of damage to the lives and properties of the people in the state.
He noted that, although the government and people may not be able to fight or prevent the occurrence of flooding but the circumstances can be fought down.
He encouraged the victims not to give up during the challenging time, while he appealed to the government, individuals, and Non-Governmental Organizations to render help by facilitating relief items to soothe the pains of those who were victimized by the flood
“Though the flood has washed away so many things out of our life but it cannot wash away the strength and positivity we have. We have no control over natural disasters but we do have control over our minds. Let us not give up in these challenging times.
“My deepest sympathies for the loss in this natural disaster. My prayer is that this will come to an end soon and God will protect our people from further calamities and keep us all safe.
“I call on the Federal Government, National Emergency Management Agency and International community to help and support the victims”
