The Ejeh of Dekina, His Royal Highness Dr Usman Obaje, has called on communities across the 21 LGAs of Kogi State to come out en-mass to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

The monarch made the call when he received a social media influencer, Yemi Balogun in his palace on Wednesday.

Debunking rumour making the round that COVID-19 vaccines are dangerous, Dr. Obaje stated that the vaccine is potent, and immunizes against the virus.

“As a member of the Northern Traditional Leaders Committee and a nominee of the state government on Covid-19 vaccine sensitization, I want to tell Kogi community categorically that the Covid-19 vaccine does not kill. It is safe. It is not harmful. When you get vaccinated, you protect yourself and family members from diseases. Remember that prevention is better than cure,” he said.

He said the vaccine distribution remains a mission to the Kogi community to ensure that no one is left behind and to also prevent any form of diseases from attacking members of the community.

“Let all the men, women and all those who are qualified in all the nooks and crannies of Kogi come out for vaccination. I have taken it and I didn’t react at all. The vaccine is just like every other injection which some may react to in a very mild way and some will not react at all,” he observed.

He commended all state actors working assiduously to give correct information that will change the negative perception of the people towards the vaccine.

Yemi Balogun, a social media influencer, is working on the Equitable Recovery Project in collaboration with Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) with support from MacArthur Foundation.
