Twenty-two political parties have indicated their interest to contest the Dec. 12 local government election in Kogi.
Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) confirmed this in a statement issued by Mr Yakubu Chogudo, the Commissioner in charge of media and publicity, on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Some of the parties warming up for the council poll include PDP, APC, Labour Party, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Action Alliance (AA), SDP, and APGA among others.
The commissioner said that the screening exercise for the party candidates would hold from Oct. 22 to Nov. 2.
He reiterated the determination of KOSIEC to conduct a free, fair and acceptable election on Dec. 12.
