Kogi Deputy Governor Returns to Classroom as Student

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward David Onoja said he returned to the classroom to enable him stay in tune with the ever-changing complexities in today’s world.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Promise Emmanuel, the Deputy Governor resumed class at Federal University Lokoja for his Masters Degree in Conflict and Peace Studies on Monday.

Onoja revealed that his motivation for his current academic drive is his elder brother, Pharmacist Alexander Onoja, who has ten masters, studying two Ph.Ds in different fields and currently a 400 level Law student.

He hinted that he may be pursuing a degree in law so he can compare notes with his daughter, Hally, who aspires to study law in a Nigerian University next year.

Onoja stated that he was attracted to conflict and peace studies because conflict specifically has a Biblical foundation, as the Bible notes that as the world of people expands, conflict grows.

He also said in government, one is confronted on daily basis with issues requiring complex decision making arising from conflicts as well as negotiations within groups of people that requires adequate mediating expertise which the course come handy in arming him with requisite skills to perform excellently in that regard.
