Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has announced scholarship award for the winner in the just concluded science quiz competition in Ankpa local government area of the state.
Announcing the scholarship award at St. Charles College Ankpa, on Wednesday, the lawmaker applauded students who emerged winners in the three categories.
The Deputy Speaker, who was represented by his senior legislative aide, Prince Tijani Dauda, said the scholarship award is for the three students each from the three schools who came first, second and third positions in the contest.
The competition which was keenly contested among science secondary schools in Ankpa saw Aleka Academy emerge first, Demonstration Secondary School took second position and St. Charles College Ankpa settled for the third position. Al-Furqan Secondary School put up a wonderful performance to emerge fourth.
Prince Dauda, while presenting the prizes to the winners and runners-up, said the essence of the science quiz competition organized by Rt Hon Ahmed Mohammed is to boost the moral and intellectual capacity of students who lost interest in taking science courses at the elementary level, and to encourage the younger ones to take academic seriously.
He congratulate the winners and all other participants.
