A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere has said the people of the state are earnestly waiting to re-elect the incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello for another term in office.

The eagerness, he noted, was because Governor Bello has done very well in the last three and a half years in office as Kogi’s number one citizen.

Engr Ohere disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja after receiving over 300 decampees from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties from Ogori/Magongo local government area of the state into the APC on Sunday.

He said Governor Bello, who is a detribalised man, has positively impacted the lives of the citizens in all parts of Kogi State, including Ogori/Magongo  people.

In her remarks, the Kogi State Head of Civil Service, Deborah Ogunmola expressed delight about the development, saying she was not surprised because Governor Bello is a man that has equitably distributed democracy dividends to the entire state.

APC leader from the local government who is also the Special Adviser to the governor on power and energy, Hon Otayitie Eminefo expressed gratitude to God for the decision of the new entrants into the APC and promised to carry them along in the scheme of things.

He said those on the visit were just a select few from the number of those ready to join the party at a decamping ceremony slated for a soon to be announced date.

On his part, the Administrator of Ogori/magongo Local Government Area, Hon Goke Oparison reaffirmed his total commitment to Governor Bello’s second term aspiration, saying he would mobilise his people to ensure they achieve that objective.

Speaking, the member representing Ogori/Magongo constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly,  Hon. Moses Akande thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in him to represent the interest of his people and said the election in November was one they were not ready chances with.

Other speakers also used the opportunity to applaud the Governor for his concentration on governance rather than allowing anything to distract him, saying his style of leadership has thrown up new dynamics in the method of governance.

A former PDP chieftain in the area, Hon. Mosimabale Alafin and Hon. Jane Onoba who spoke on behalf of the decampees promised their unalloyed loyalty to the APC.
