Kogi Deputy Speaker to Organise Quiz Competition for Science Students in Ankpa

The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has unveiled plans to organise quiz competition for science students in secondary schools across Ankpa local government area of the state.

In a press statement signed by his media aide, Prince Dauda Tijani, the lawmaker said the competition id aimed at boosting moral and intellectual capacity of students who have lost interest in taking science courses.

Ahmed, who represents Ankpa I in the Assembly, said the contest will encourage the younger ones to take academic seriously.

The Deputy Speaker hinted that invitation has been sent to thirteen schools to participate in the sciences quiz competition from which only two winning schools shall emerge to represent Ankpa LGA in the grand finale with other contestants from Dekina, Idah, Okene and Lokoja LGAs.

According to the statement, schools from Ankpa LGA to partake in the competition are; Comsaldocg’s College, Aleka Academy, Global College, St Charles College, Redeemer Secondary School, Community Girls Secondary School, Demonstration Secondary School and Unity Comprehensive Secondary school.

Others are; Dynamic International Group of Schools, Ankpa LGA Special Day Secondary School, Enjema Community Secondary School, Government Girls Secondary School Okaba and Okenyi Community Secondary School.

Science students from these schools will solve questions selected from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Winner of the competition will be awarded full scholarship to University level of his or her choice, while the first and second runner up will be rewarded with academic materials. There will be lots of consolation prizes for other participants.

The science quiz competition is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 30th October, 2019 at St. Charles College, Ankpa bu 9.30am prompt.
