Trending on social media is the picture of a man referred to as the Governor of Kogi State posing in the like manner of a boxer.
Trending also, are supporters of same, suggesting the picture to be a boxing training session in preparation of the Gubernatorial Election come November 2019.
In my opinion the picture that I saw on social media suggest to me a very lazy and amateur pot bellied boxer who doesn’t even know how to set his punches.
However, If the intention in the picture is true as portrayed, then we can understand why people were killed in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Kogi State. We can further deduce that many more might be killed in the Gubernatorial Elections because the “Boxer” is training to fight ferociously like the animal lion although white in color.
A man who cannot pay the salaries of workers in the state he so governs? A man who has little or no infrastructural project or developmental program to justify the huge amount of allocation he receives on behalf of the state and its people monthly? Posing like a boxer to box people of the state who have become poverty stricken under his government is rather most unfortunate.
For some of us having attempted boxing recently, we know and understand the fighting tactics of this “ boxer” in defeating unguided opponents in the ring. We know it is about huge amounts of money to share to some “spectators” to cheer loudly, thus intimidating opponents before, during and after a fight, referees and umpires to bribe, hitting below the belt by unleashing dangerous punches at undeserving parts of an opponents body against the rules of boxing with no referee to caution or disqualify.
The good thing here is that some cheated boxers learn quickly from previous fights and take adequate precautions in future fights. Also, many are not short of ideas on how to prevent hitting below the belt or rather hit below the belt themselves, encourage spectators to cheer and handle effectively, bribed referees and umpires.
Lastly, the name of the Lord is a strong Tower. Let all genuine supporters of Peace, Progress and Good Governance in Kogi State trust in the Lord and in the power of his might.
Don’t forget, “Boxers” sometimes experiences total knockouts in the rings of boxing no matter how hard they train.
