By Yusuf Abubakar.

The Atai Aidoko Ali Continuity Group has assured the people of Kogi East that they will not go to sleep and allow the people’s mandate to be hijacked by power mongers and enemies of the Igala race.

The group made this statement while thanking the good people of Kogi East for heeding to the call to liberate the Igala people from the hands of shylock leaders and their collaborators in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The spokesman of the group, Idris Yakubu stated that the undemocratic and militarized election in the area revealed that the APC led government is afraid hence the desperate moves.

He noted that the determination of people in their support for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday has demonstrated the resolute will of Igala people to liberate themselves from the evil machinations of the APC led government in the state.

Idris said in a free, fair and credible elections, the Igala/Bassa people will not concede the mandate of its people on the altar of cheap blackmail and political intimidation of APC.

He urged INEC to do more to exhume and unravel more electoral malpractices, as a lot of irregularities like thumb printing of ballot papers indiscriminately to favour the APC candidates as was experienced in the nine local government areas in Kogi East.

“The cancellation of 129 polling units is not enough. An outright cancellation of the results would have been more democratic and fair, especially in Dekina local government.

“In the nine local government areas, most governor’s aides and council administrators, that were suppose to be the chief security officers of their various local governments, were carrying guns and sophisticated weapons along with hired thugs that disrupted the election,” he said.

He urged INEC not to succumb to pressure of the APC and the state government as the senator was even attacked at the collation centre in Okpo by the Chief of Staff to Kogi Governor, Edward Onoja and his thugs, after destroying election materials and disrupting elections in Ogugu and it’s environs.

“How can the APC senatorial candidate score 10,000 in Anyigba ward were election did not hold, but marred by rampaging thugs? This is a disservice to our democratic practice.
