Kogi Youth Alliance (KYA) has called on young eligible voters across the eastern axis of the state to troop out enmasse in support of candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party kick starts campaigns.
In a statement signed by Olufemi Temitope and Ekpa Virginia Iye, President and secretary respectively, KYA expressed confidence that PDP will win all elective positions in the forthcoming general elections in Kogi state.
The group bemoaned the current spate of political violence in the state and called on the ruling party to restrain its supporters from activities that are inimical to peaceful electioneering process.
“We call on fellow youths across the nine local governments in Kogi East senatorial district to throw their weight behind the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar to National and State Assembly candidates.
“As the party kick starts are mega rallies across Kogi East on Tuesday, we want to assure Kogites that the end of hunger, bad economy, unpaid salaries and pensions is in sight.
“Kogi electorate must take their destiny in their hands and be determined to put an end to the regime of the current leadership in the country and Kogi state so as to make our country and state great again.
“PDP represents progress. PDP hold civil servants in high esteem and will not toy with their welfare. Our infrastructures will receive urgent attention and we will return to the path of progress,” the statement reads.
The group called on Kogi East electorate to remain resolute in the face of political intolerance they have faced in recent time and stick with PDP.
