The flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2019 Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency election, Dr. Juwon Johnson Orugun has dismissed the rumor concerning the purported sale of his House of Representatives ticket to anybody.
He described the rumor as highly demeaning to his posture as a person of high integrity who values his God-given mandate than monetary inducement from any quarters.
Speaking specifically about the idea of any deal with Mr. S.O. Adeleye, Dr. Orugun maintained that up till date, he has neither met nor seen Mr. S.O. Adeleye physically. He stated that aside occasional brief exchange of phone calls, there has never been any discussion whatsoever between the two of them on political matters.
Dr. Orugun explained that he was never approached, talk less of accepting millions of Naira as being bandied by rumour peddlers around the Constituency.
This he described the rumour as a “figment of  the tainted imagination of the originators of such wicked rumors”, which is aimed at denting the trust bestowed upon him by his teeming supporters as well as his acknowledged hard-earned reputation and integrity.
Orugun appealed to all his family, friends, well wishers and teeming supporters, within and outside the constituency, to utterly disregard the “wicked insinuations” that has been circulating for some time now.
He equally dismissed the notion that till date, he has not completed the payment of his nomination fee. He confirmed that the total amount has been fully paid, debunking the rumor that he has paid the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00) only.
He encouraged detractors, rumor mongers and agents of lies and fake news to confirm issues from the appropriate party quarters before rushing to deceive the public on social media.
On whether he will accept being cajoled or begged to relinquish his mandate or ticket, Dr. Orugun made it clear that the ticket is not for sale, as it is what he described as a consummation of desires that goes beyond his personal dream and person. He wondered why he will harbor such defeatist approach when victory at the polls is certain and God-ordained.
He stated that his mandate represents the aspirations of many persons, groups and the totality of the change the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu desire and deserve.
Bearing his mind on the increasing monetization of politics, Dr. Orugun expressed his confidence in the political sophistication of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu people and their great sense of discernment in their choice at the polls.
He described the constituents as people that know candidates who have the interest of the masses at heart, from those who are perennial defaulters on promises and political opportunists out to gain from their ignited confusion.
He welcomed all new and potential joiners to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and admonished them to strengthen the party, and also endeavor to avoid whatsoever will cause dissension, rift and rancor.
