A Kogi-born social critic, Samuel Temibi has charged the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to accept his responsibility as the manager of the state’s resources.
Temibi gave the charge on Wednesday during a meeting with youth leaders in Lokoja.
He stated that Gov. Bello’s penchant for giving excuses for his failings is becoming mind blowing and calls for concern.
“Ever since Gov. Bello was selected as a the circumstantial Governor of Kogi state he has been dodging from his primary obligations which are of public importance to the generality of the citizens.
“Apart from the arrears of salaries the state government is owing civil servants, Gov. Bello and his government has failed to execute infrastructural projects since he assumed office. The most worrisome aspect of it is that the governor and his crew has imported thugs to the state to attack and kill anyone who dare try to challenge his incompetency,” he lamented.
Temibi argued that Gov. Bello lacks credibility and the capacity to hold any public office, hence he should not try to waste his money on reelection as the people of Kogi state are already bidding him fare well from Lugard House.
“No Kogite with a modicum of patriotism and of good conscience will ever vote Gov. Bello for second term in office. Our people are wise and they’re ready to fight for their rights with their votes next year.
“It has been three years of misappropriation of public funds, squandering of civil servant’s salaries, irrational incarceration of perceived enemy and an epic show of executive recklessness. All these are preposterous and dangerous to the nascent democracy. They are contrary to the ethics and virtues expected of the Executive Governor of the state.
“The shambolic disruption of Lokoja/Koto bye election, the wanton show of craziness by some imported thugs on election ground and the inducement of the electorate with maggi and pepper by Gov. Bello’s APC-led government is an embarrassment to us as citizens of Kogi state. These antic can never work in the forthcoming Kogi governorship election.
“Let Gov. Bello start paying salaries now. He should also embark on projects that will impact the lives of the electorate. The fundamental role of a government is to pay salaries as at when due, provide social amenities, provide massive infrastructural projects and ensure protection of lives and properties.”
