“…the media is the most powerful entity on earth, it has the power to make the guilty innocent and the innocent guilty”- Malcom X.

For the students of power, let us see what Robert Greene said about Law 6 in the 48 Laws of Power: COURT ATTENTION AT ALL COST.

JUDGMENT

Everything is judged by its appearance; what is unseen counts for nothing. Never let yourself get lost in the crowd, then, or buried in oblivion. Stand out. Be conspicuous, at all cost. Make yourself a magnet of attention by appearing larger, more colorful, more mysterious than the bland and timid masses.

PART I: SURROUND YOUR NAME WITH THE SENSATIONAL AND SCANDALOUS

Draw attention to yourself by creating an unforgettable, even controversial image. Court scandal. Do anything to make yourself seem larger than life and shine more brightly than those around you. Make no distinction between kinds of attention—notoriety of any sort will bring you power. Better to be slandered and attacked than ignored.” Excerpt From The 48 Laws of Power Robert Greene.

Senator Melaye has mastered this antic with a stroke of intelligence, evil intelligence. From the catheter he wore to the chamber, to jumping off a moving vehicle, to his unending filibustering in the Red chamber, one can wonder what he can use the media to do with the mind of the masses.

From psychological perspectives, this is my analysis of the situation:

1. Senator Melaye is at loggerheads with the incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

2. He recently announced his constituency tour of his Senatorial districts to commission projects.

3. In all the projects he has in the Senatorial district, only that of Lokoja, the state capital was vandalized. That vandalism is not The whole block of classrooms. They vandalized some rooms inside the building.

Interpretation:

1. His running battle with the current Governor opens a slippery slope for anyone to attach victimization to him on any of his properties which are touched in Kogi. In simple terms, if anything happens to whatever he is doing, the psychological suspicion would be that the Governor and his people had orchestrated that.

But how could anyone who wishes to stop him wait until blocks of class rooms are built then send hoodlums to destroy some chairs in the class rooms, cut the ceiling open, and set those chairs in the class rooms on fire? Knowing that anything that happens would be pointed towards their direction?

2. The vandalized class rooms was to create media attention to the said project with people running into mental flames of accusations. As you know, anything scandalous sells. You also know those who like such scandals. I think it is dumb for anyone to vandalize properties of those they are fighting without hands pointing directly at them. If that is the case, why should anyone do that?

3. Why Lokoja class rooms? Is Lokoja the only place he has planted his projects? The media proximity is close. The attention proximity is close.

4. Do you know that most of those projects executed by our Senators is not from their direct jumbo purse? There’s always a fund for projects which is paid for by the FG.

5. Do you know that Senator Dino Melaye is the Senate Committee Chair on FCT? The probability of diverting projects to his constituency is highly sulkily.

6. Have you guys seen his response to the event, find it? He is the perfect courtier. If you’re his opponent, you must envisage his next antics. He has a penchant for drama and could go all out.

Again, except you have evidence or facts, who is to benefit from this scandal?

The elites only control the masses because they are ignorant of mass-hysteria and media control. Ask CNN. Ask Donald Trump.
