The court case involving Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) for allegedly arming hoodlums in Kogi state has been transferred to Abuja Federal High court.
This was made known by Senator Melaye in a post on his Twitter page on Wednesday.
He wrote: “I have just been contacted by my lawyer Ricky Tafa that the case against me by the Inspector General of Police in Lokoja has been transferred to Federal High Court Abuja. God is a good God.”
The Nigeria Police had arrested two men said to be members of an armed gang, who confessed to have got weapons and financial support from the senator.
Police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood said the suspects were identified as Kabiru Saidu and Nuru Salisu.
Moshood said the detectives caught the suspects with a cache of arms that included AK-47 rifles and pump action firearms.
He also said that the suspects confessed during interrogations that they were being sponsored by the lawmaker.
However, the suspects escaped from police custody on Wednesday.
This led the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris to ordered the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Ali Janga.
