Passion is the energy that comes from within, bringing more of you into what you do. Simply put, it’s being who you are and doing what comes naturally. This is the fuel that drives Hon Shiru Lawal. When what you do is in alignment with who you are, you get energy from doing it. It’s like water flowing along its natural riverbed. It actually gains energy from the path it is taking (compare that to what most people experience in their work, which is more like trying to force it up and over a mountain). Gathering the resulting insights in one’s place gives you a passion-focused decision tool. Think of it as an internal compass that takes the heart-based passion decision and puts it in the realm that the analytical mind can understand as well.
Commitment is the connection between our values, intentions and our actions. Connection is the coming together of more than one element, while commitment is the giving of ourselves to it, the surrender. The connections we make generate our commitments, just as our commitments generate more profound connections. Passion is the essence of commitment. Passion is that which deeply stirs us. It is the fire from within and that which motivates us. When passion is missing, our actions lack meaning and we don’t get the results we want. Without passion, our actions are obligatory and lack velocity.
Commitment emanates from passion — passion is the seed from which commitment blossoms. That is why Shiru has been able to uncommonly transform Lokoja local government within a period as short as this. Commitment is persistence. If one is committed, one’s support is uncompromising and unending. One is willing to do anything in support of the commitment. This applies to love as much as it applies to professional or global commitments. Commitment drives us and anchors us during challenging times. Commitment helps us to maintain our integrity; we persist to that which we’re committed and it provokes us to good works.
This is the reason why the “anger” of shiru that he is a novice is an advantage to his performance as commended by Hon Adoga Ibrahim , who said he appreciated him for high performance and not abandoning the projects initiated. This he said during the of recent project inspection. Commitment is a consciousness, it requires insight and self-awareness-one must know what one’s values and ideals are in order to commit to them, Do you know someone who’s a conscientious and productive worker but who is not happy or provoked in good intention? Such a person frequently lacks insight and self-awareness.
Commitment is difficult if you don’t know what’s most important to you, Commitment requires an ability to observe self and make conscious decisions in visions that will benefit your followers. Commitment is purposeful. It involves choice-saying yes to our values and to our passions, Commitment is never haphazard or random. While we may lose our perspective from time to time, commitment always involves choice and intent. Commitment enables us to be purposeful and is the reason why Shiru’s reason in the council is to change the history of Lokoja and her people, which he has effectively done in the past one year.
Commitment is self-expression. Self-expression is the culmination of who we are and how we’re being. When there’s perfect alignment and congruency between who we are and how we’re being, we are authentic and fully self-expressed. This is wonderfully fulfilling! If commitment is the ultimate expression of our values and who we are, self-expression is a core ingredient of commitment. You see why some of us find it hard to believe that any man could be made a leader? You cannot give what you don’t have from the inside.
If a palm tree is withered in nature there is no way it can produce much quality of wine. The infrastructural evolution in Lokoja local government, the inside of Shiru, he only gives birth to his kind. So the people have to open their eyes wide and make a better choice in 2018-19.
Let God be their pathfinder. Vision brings forth our commitment. Does commitment generate the envisioned process, or does vision generate commitment? Either way, commitment and vision are inexplicably tied together. Expand your vision while you deepen your commitment in order to produce powerful results and Shiru’s commitment is to better the lot of his people, that he empowers them through diverse policies, skills acquisition and contracts. But he cannot stop as the commitment continues to ignite fire him, that instead of reduction in capital intensive projects, he increases them by the day.
Commitment inspires Shiru to be, and do his best. He aims for the sky and shoots for the stars as he refuses to accept less than the best from himself and others. Our commitment inspires him to reach for quality and excellence. He continually enlarges and clarifies his vision. This contributes to his living his personal best. Commitment communes with communication. Communication involves verbal and non-verbal interaction. While commitment lives in the declaration and words, evidence of commitment lives in the actions we take and do not take. Be attentive for evidence of commitment in communication. This is why, when the administrator is making his speech, he does not read his project and prospect from script, because those strides are part of him and he communicates to others with much passion and commitment without missing any.
Commitment is the giving of ourselves to what we most believe and want. It is the merging of our ideals and our being. We surrender to our ideals with commitment, and live them. We create what we want when we surrender to our commitment.
One can see why Shiru is successful in the face of his blackmailers, as he refuses to allow the many wars against him to shelve him from doing his best, or in executing his vision, because his commitment to the development of the local government is total. The system’s four aspects are purpose, function, process, and structure. The strategic focus ties to three of these-passion ties to the purpose, the value proposition to the function within the environment and the distinctive competency with the process aspect.
The reason there is not an element of strategic focus related to structure is because structure answers the “how” questions, while the purpose, function, and process are essentially “what” questions-at least as related to the strategic focus. In strategic development, “how” follows from “what” Shiru’s strategic intent focuses on the result intended for adopting a strategic focus, creating an extreme gap between resources and ambitions as expressed in his mission and vision, where this gap can only be closed by systematically building new advantageous capabilities.
What I will describe as folding the future back into the present, providing the hard and soft infrastructure to gain development hence he broadens the value of Lokoja local government, the value proposition of the strategic focus is expressed as What drives your economic engine ,that has the greatest positive impact on the economies of the community you represent, which is the value of a proposition taken to the level of strategic competitive advantage, another clever output of Shiru.
Education is the basis of the development of any Land . A country can spend money and time on tourism, infrastructure or any other short-term projects, but nothing would change if the citizens do not have a central role in the society. And this starts at school, this starts by giving the student/citizen responsibility and ability to make his or her own opinion. The encouragement of education policy of Hon Shiru Lawal was fashioned out by the administrator as the first tool to use in making sure our people are let loose from the chains of underdevelopment.
The government of Hon Shiru Lawal does not stop by just encouraging education from primary to secondary school, he granted thousands of the local government Students scholarship to study  in the tertiary institutions in the country. To make sure the students have a good environment for learning, his government has reconstructed numbers of class room blocks and also built new ones. The schools were also supplied with science laboratory equipment.
Infrastructures are essential facilities that should be put in place to enable development to occur. Socio-economic development can be facilitated and accelerated by the presence of social and economic infrastructures. If these facilities and services are not in place, development will be very difficult and in fact can be likened to a very scarce commodity that can only be secured at a very high price and cost. .
Shiru has continued to soar higher, while leaving critics to wonder where he got his passion from. But it is what he has within that he produces to the world to behold. He is driven by a force unknown to many. If one will look deep, it is his passion for service, that makes its output uncommon among the leaders of today’s Lokoja.
