A front line aspirant for house of representatives seat, Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, Arc Salman Idris on Saturday advised the youths of his constituency to shun violence and other social vices capable of truncating their destinies.
Salman gave the advice at the sideline of his meeting with the forum of ward chairmen and local government executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Iyara, of Ijumu local government area of Kogi state.
He said the era of engaging youths as political thugs and evil machinery is gone, noting that the youths must demand better and productive engagement from politicians at various levels.
The grassroot politician had earlier presented his letter of intent to the PDP chairman of Ijumu local government area and the forum of ward chairmen.
Various speakers at the meeting commended Arc Salman for his courage and his efforts towards the growth of the PDP in past and promised to rally round him in his quest to represent the people come 2019.
Mr Salman was also the guest of forum of PDP ward chairmen and local government executives of Kabba-Bunu local government area where he was well received by party leaders and executives.
While addressing the party executives at Kabba-Bunu PDP secretariat, Arc Salman said he has what it takes to represent them effectively. He assured the party leaders that he will bring his many years experience as a civil servant, his network and goodwill to bear which is expected to give the federal constituency an advantage.
Stakeholders at the meeting expressed confidence in Arc Salman, whom they described as a well known philanthropist and a community man of many years, to represent them at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
He announced the donation of modern public address system to each of the 30 wards of the federal constituency, a development the party executives described as first of its kind.
They expressed gratitude to Arc Salman Idris and urged him not to relent in his support for the people and the party.
