The Eju Attah of  Igala in North America, Chief Sunday Umoru has condemned Governor Yahaya Bello for proposing Kogi State as a testing ground for Cattle Colonies without consultations with stakeholders in the state.

In a press statement signed by Collins Onogu, the principal spokesman of Kogi Emancipation Network, Umoru described the action of Governor Bello as a dangerous move that undermines the security of Kogi state.

Umoru, a governorship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wondered why establishment of Cattle Colonies is the only solution proffered by Federal Government to Fulani herdsmen’s acts of terrorism across the country.

Chief Sunday Umoru further lamented that the Federal Government is stoking more fire by its plans to establish what it calls cattle colonies in different parts of the country.

He added that President Buhari’s government has failed woefully in addressing the incessant killings of the herdsmen, which many has considered as a state of emergency in the country.

“Recently in Benue State innocent men, women, and children were massacred, and same occurrence in other parts of the country was perpetrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Similarly in December of 2017 Fulani herdsmen killed a total of ten persons in Omala and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

“It is unfortunate that Governor Yahaya Bello lacks common sense to know that the Fulani herdsmen carrying assorted firearms like AK47 to massacre people and destroy farms unjustly must not be accommodated for no reason whatsoever, anywhere in Kogi state.

“Governor Yahaya Bello must undertsnad that Cattle colony is not a strategy for grazing cattle but a centre for dairy products shopping and supply. It is therefore, worrisome on what the Federal Government intends to achieve by establishing cattle colonies across Nigeria considering the fact that the Federal government has not taken any bold step to decisively address killings of the herdsmen across the country in the manner it should, especially the recent killings in Benue state.

“Fulani herdsmen have wasted many innocent lives to be considered as terrorists and so therefore, the acceptance of Governor Yahaya Bello to adopt cattle colony in Kogi State is lugubrious and is a NO! NO!! NO!!!,” he said.
