Ankpa: Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Soccer Competition Kicks Off in Style

Ankpa Township Stadium was filled with life and exuded with so much energy and merriments as Sport enthusiast, leaders, youths all came out in their large numbers to witness the kickoff of Ahmed Mohammed Soccer competition / Talent Hunt on Sunday 24th December, 2017.
The event started with presentation of football kits to all the thirty two teams by team of professionals, and political leaders.
Honorable Ahmed Mohammed in his opening remarks said the aim of organizing this historic tournament is to brings together youths from various communities and encourage them through sporting activities. It is also an avenue to create a forum for friendship and relationship among neighbouring communities.
In his words; “We have young people who are engaged in such sporting events like Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Scrabble, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Volleyball. But lots of people are also interested in Football and so far in Nigeria, it has higher number of spectators and support, there is a need to encourage our youths and support them so that they can go high places. We could also, through this medium discover their talents and sponsor the best players to other states and other countries.
Honorable Gabriel Adoji, commissioner for Youths and Sports also in his brief remarks urged the competitors to see this as an opportunity to showcase Their talents, as this will also provide them opportunity to be linked to other football clubs.
I call on you all to showcase your talents to the public. This tournament will surely expose young talented youths and we are always ready to support you where necessary, he said.
The opening match was between DK Boys and Golden Boys which ended in a draw (1-1).
