Kogi Poly ASUP Calls Off Strike, Exams Start Monday Sept. 11

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Kogi State Polytechnic, has called off its strike action after an extensive negotiation with representatives of the state government.
At a joint meeting of the union executives with Accountant General of Kogi State, Commissioner of Finance and his Education counterpart, the lecturers agreed to call off the industrial action that was scheduled to commence Monday morning.
Also, the Polytechnic’s proposed semester examination will continue on Monday as earlier scheduled.
Chairman ASUP, Boluromi Sunday reportedly confirmed that some lecturers have started getting alerts of salary payment.
The Chairman stated that other agitations were presented to the government and the Commissioner for Finance, Idris Asiru asked that the cost implications for all the issues be computed and submitted tomorrow so that the governor can choose the ones he can immediately execute.
On the issue of payslips, Chairman said the Accountant General has prepared a letter to be issued tomorrow to all institutions in the State for preparing payslips at monthly basis.
Based on the outcome of the meeting, the chairman directed members to resume work tomorrow, Monday, and continue with the conduct of examinations.
