The Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State chapter, Comrade Oladele John Nihi wish to felicitate with the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the entire youth of Kogi State on the occasion of Democracy Day Celebration in Nigeria.

The democratic experiment in Kogi State has witnessed comparative development brought upon by those who took turn in the administration of the state, but the improvements are far less than the  expectations of Kogites. Poverty radiates across the state, there is a high rate of graduate unemployment and youth restiveness.
The Youths of Kogi State are yearning for empowerment and improved standard of living. We live in a country with high degree of insecurity, armed rubbery and violent crimes occasioned by idleness which has made the youths a willing tool in the hands of those with evil machinations against the country.
However, we acknowledge the bold and decisive steps taken by this administration under the able leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to mitigate crime and criminality in the state, indeed, it has yielded tremendous results that are commendable.
We are also cognizant of the lofty plans embedded in the New Direction Blueprint of this administration and what she has done so far in empowering Kogi youths, we are confident that this administration will further provide the enabling environment for Youth self-development and empowerment, which is the universal remedy to  youth restiveness and insecurity.
We want to use this opportunity to remind all of us that sustainable democracy is the responsibility of all, and as youths, we must rise to the challenge of contributing to the sustenance of  democracy in the state through active participation and constructive engagement. We should put aside ethno-religious differences and destructive tendencies, and be the agents of a better Kogi that we wish to live in.
We the youths of Kogi State believe in democracy as the form of government that best guarantees the active participation and actual benefit of the people. Despite some of its shortcomings, we have demonstrated tolerance, patient and faith that we shall get it right.
Therefore, Government at the Federal, State and Local level should work hard to overcome the shortcomings of democratic rule so that the labour of our heroes pass should not be in vain.
Finally, in the spirit of democracy, peace and progress, we call on the striking lecturers of Kogi State higher institutions and the state government to sheath their sword and reach a common ground for the sake of the students and the development of our educational system.
Long Live the National Youth Council of Nigeria
Long Live Kogi State
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Signed:
Abdulkerim Haruna
