In an effort to stamp out kidnapping in Kogi State, especially in Kogi Central, 13 houses of the arrested kidnappers are to be demolished by Kogi State government.
The Kogi State Security Adviser, Navy Commodore Jerry Omodara (Retired) disclosed this to Journalists in Okene yesterday.
He explained that the on-going demolition of the houses of kidnappers and armed robbers in Kogi State was an effort put in place by government to rid the state of criminalities and that no innocent citizen would be affected.
He disclosed that already no fewer than 13 identified houses of hoodlums at Okene, Adavi and Ihima Local Government Areas in the Central Senatorial District of the state had been pulled down.
The Security Adviser who told journalists that the on-going demolition of houses of criminals would be a continuous one also hinted that any identified houses of the bandits across the state would not escape demolition.
“The Kogi State government will not relent in its efforts to flush out criminal elements in their hide outs” Omodara assured.
He warned that any body caught in the act of aiding and abetting crimes in the state would also not be spared irrespective of his or her status in the society.
The Security Adviser however, noted that security agents in the state had already gotten accurate information on the identity of the houses of the kidnappers and armed robbers assuring that no innocent citizen would be mistaken to be affected in the demolition exercise.
He said the state government had no choice than to take the drastic action in view of the havoc meted on the good people of the state as a result of the incessant activities of the hoodlums in recent times.
Omodara also noted that the state government action on the demolition of the houses of criminals in the state will serve as a deterrent to those who may wish to take to the wicked business.
It would be recalled that the demolition exercise which took its first leg on Wednesday started with the central senatorial district of the state and would be carried out in the remaining two senatorial districts during its second phase.
