Josites in Kogi Begins 2017 in Grand Style, Celebrates Edward Onoja and Others

The University of Jos Alumni Association, Kogi state chapter has called on graduates of the University to be each others’ keeper.

This call was made during the association’s 2017 Reunion Dinner in Lokoja yesterday.

The fun-filled event had the Chief of Staff to the Kogi state Governor, Edward Onoja as the chairman of the occasion.

In his message, Onoja appealed to members of the association to continue to support his boss, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

He assured that Governor Bello will do nothing less than giving Kogi state the best leadership its desired. He admonished Josites to continue to pray for the administration in her journey to take Kogi sate into infrastructural and economic prosperity of Nigeria.

In his welcome address, the State Chairman of the University of Jos Alumni Association, Engr. Oladipo Makakese Bayode called on Josites in Kogi state to form synergy that will ensure social and economic relation of her members.

He said one of the main essence of the Alumni Association is interaction  and promised to continue to strive to make the platform a credible one for Josites in the state. He used the opportunity to brief Josites of the activities in the year 2017 and called on continued support for her membership for her projects ahead.

Bayode appealed to Josites to emulate Mr. Inaju U Inaju who funded her 2017 Reunion Dinner. He described Inaju as one man that has consistently ensured robust mobilsation for the association, while praying that God will replenish him for his support.

The event also created a avenue for intellectual brain storming with lead discussant enumerating the Role of Alumni Association in Building Unity and Development. The Lead Discussant included Mr. Denja Abdullahi, the President of Association of Nigerian Authors; Hon. Rosemary Ojochenemi Osikoya , the state Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources; Barr (Mrs) Comfort Toluwase, the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Customary Court of Appeal Kogi state.

Several good will message were presented by the National President of the University of Jos Alumni Association, Mr. Idris Yakubu,who is also the Executive Director to Skye Bank Plc (South South and South East Operations); Josites and friend alike.

The Special Guest of Honour, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Seddi S. Maimako called upon Josites to continue to remember the University and assure them that the university under his watch will continue to be celebrated for excellence academic and research excellence.

Three Josites were presented with awards for their contribution to the society and the association. They are; Mr. Inaju U  Inaju of the United Nation Mission to South Sudan; Engr. Onyindo Peter Onyindo, the Managing Director of Onyindo & Onyindo Construction Limited, a front line construction company in the state and Honourable Tajudeen Yusuf, Member of the House of Representative Representing Kabba Bunu and Ijumu federal Constutuency.

The occasion was also used to unveiled the 2017 Almanac of the Association.
