As Kogi people mourn the shameful September 20 ruling on Kogi governorship appeals, we have shoved the ‘powers-that-be judgements’ behind us and now look upwards awaiting the ultimate and untainted ruling from the Supreme God who can never lie.
Not a few Kogites were tempted to question God’s integrity and authority in the affairs of men after the disappointing verdict of the Supreme Court. Kogites across the 21 local government areas of Kogi state and across faiths fasted and prayed fervently to Almighty to intervene in Kogi affairs and remove Yahaya Bello but the mortals at the supreme court showed the world that no matter how highly placed, mortals remain mortals.
But we have decided to thank God. We refuse to question God’s authority and sovereignty. This has given us renewed strength that all hope is not lost. He is a just God and his verdict will soon be delivered. Our joy is that God cannot be bribed and he is not afraid of political gods in the land.
After the August 4th appeal court ruling we started counting 60 days to supreme court judgement. Now, we have started counting down to the final judgement – the Supreme God Judgement. Will it come in 60 days after September 20th? God is not bound by the electoral act. His ruling can come before or after but one thing is certain, it will come speedily and it will be just!
Nigerian Judiciary is under attack, no doubt. Judges of the Supreme Court were, until last week, held in high esteem but they proved to be mere mortals in their ruling. The outrageous ruling cannot stand the test of time in the fledging Nigerian democracy.
While we patiently await the judgement of Supreme God, I urge Kogites to go about the daily activities with peace and rest of mind knowing that their day of liberation will come very soon.
