The executive governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has taken a huge step towards restructuring the state government workings as well as the government at the grassroot.
In a statement signed by Kingsley Fanwo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bello ordered permanent secretaries in the state to proceed on a 30-day retirement leave with effect from Tuesday, February 16.
Those exempted by the governor’s directive are the permanent secretary in charge of Government House and those occupying the position in acting capacity.
The state Accountant General was not spared in the massive move to clean that government’s Augean stable as he was relieved of his appointment.
The governor also sacked the directors of local government, treasurers of local governments, education secretaries, among others.
“In the same vein, all Directors of Local Governments (DLG), all Treasurers of Local Governments, all Education Secretaries, all Cashiers to Local Governments in the state are to proceed on 30-days compulsory leave effective from tomorrow, February 16, 2016.
“All affected persons are to handover to the staff next to them,” the statement said.
A few days after his inauguration, Mr. Bello ordered the immediate reinstatement of all local government chairmen sacked in the twilight of the administration of immediate-past governor, Idris Wada.
