A coalition of civil society groups from Kogi central senatorial district has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at state and national level to zone the ministerial position of the state to the district in the interest of justice, equity and fair play.
A statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Chief Haruna Osike, said the massive support given to the APC by the people of the district during the last presidential election was aimed at pulling the area from perpetual marginalisation in the hand of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
Osike said the principle of change being canvassed by the APC government would not be complete if equity and fair play were not considered while appointing people into positions.
While appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to right the wrong by appointing somebody from the area to fill the ministerial slot for the state, the group urged leaders from the eastern and western axis of the state to carry Kogi central along in the distribution of positions and other dividends of democracy in the interest of oneness.
