Those in the Nursing profession have been advised to discharge their professional callings and duties with values and virtues that will make great impact.
Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada gave the charge in a message to the opening ceremony of the fellowship of Christian Nurses of Nigeria, Annual Conference holding in Lokoja.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the role of Nurses in the management of health system, cannot be over-stressed, enjoined Christian Nurses to continue to demonstrate those to demonstrate Christian values, ethics and characteristics that stands them out as the light and salt in the delivery of health services.
Capt Wada tasked Nurses to be more responsive to the feelings of their patients at all times even in the face of daunting stress and challenges.
Capt Wada described Kogi State as highly endowed, assured that the present administration is committed to the industrial and socio – economic transformation of the State.
Earlier in his speech, the Kogi State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa, challenged the Christian Nurses to distinguish themselves in their professional callings, disclosing that such efforts would help complement the unrelenting drive of the present administration in making the welfare of its workers a priority, a worthy objective.
Also speaking, National President of Fellowship of Christian Nurses, Nigeria, Pastor Thomas Ibe, said the fellowship was established in 1960, said this year’s conference is the 54th in the services.
Pastor Ibe disclosed that the annual retreat helps in keeping the Nurses focused in spite of obvious challenges of the work place.
