Wada Awards River Niger Embankment To Prevent Flood in Kabawa

Towards preventing perennial flooding in Kabawa area of Lokoja, the Kogi State Government has awarded contract for the building of embankment along the River Niger to protect the shoreline.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, made the disclosure when he received management of CGC Construction Company in his office.

The State Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said with the shoreline protection programme of the state government, Kabawa area will now wear a new look with the construction of the embankment which the governor pointed out is being funded under the ecological fund project.

While noting that the embankment in Kabawa will help reduce the flooding usually experienced by the area, it is expected to also serve as a covering for the waste dumped by residents in the river.
Capt Wada disclosed of his administrations resolve in the infrastructural development of the State, urged for patience from the people and solicited their support to enable him fulfill his administration’s dreams and objectives.

The Governor described CGC as a reputable construction firm, said the present administration is committed to working only with contractors that deliver on quality projects.

In his remarks, Mr. Onamah Godwin, Kogi State Commissioner for Works, commended the systematic approach of Capt Idris Wada, in project execution, assured of his Ministry’s constant supervision towards enhancing quality job delivery.

Speaking at the visit, Mr. Fan Putt, project Manager of CGC, said his organization will deliver quality work especially on the expected dualization of welcome to Lokoja to the International Market road.

The project Manager commended the State Government for the mobilization given to it to start work on the road project, assured of its timely completion.
