A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday fixed five days for the accelerated trial of three persons, including a lecturer of Kogi State University over alleged terrorism.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole fixed November 18, 19 and 20 for the continuation of the trial. The case will also come up on December 11 and 12.

The three accused persons, Mohammed Nazeef Yunus (PhD), Salami Abdullahi (businessman) and Musa Umar, were on February 3 arraigned by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy and terrorism over alleged plot to attack Kogi State.

The case was adjourned following an application by defence counsel, Hassan Liman (SAN), for original copies of statements obtained by the Department of State Security (DSS) from the fourth prosecution witness simply identified as “AB.”

The judge, who had earlier overruled an application by Liman, while examining the witness, to have him write out his real names, had ordered the prosecuting counsel N.B. Jones-Nebo to make available the originating statements before the next adjourned date.
