Kogi Judiciary in collaboration with its Cooperative Thrift and Credit Society (CTCS) is to construct a clinic at the state High Court complex, Lokoja to cater for health needs of staff.
Justice Nasiru Ajanah, Chief Judge, disclosed this at a presentation of electronic appliances procured under the CTCS revolving loan scheme to 28 staff of the judiciary who were members of the cooperative society.
Ajanah said the cooperative society had donated two rooms on its block for the immediate take-off of the clinic on temporary basis adding that the Judiciary would now proceed to engage the services of nurses and other personnel to man the clinic.
The Chief Judge was particularly delighted that the trade Unions and societies had keyed into his vision of enhancing the welfare of staff through the provision of conducive environment for them to function optimally.
He said that only last moth, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kogi chapter distributed computer laptops to its members “and today again, we are here to commence this laudable programme.
“We will continue to support any society or trade union that has the welfare of staff at heart. This is very encouraging and I am even more encouraged that the CTCs has provided a crèche to take care of our nursing mother and their babies.”
Speaking earlier, chairman of the CTCS, Engr Joshua Adejoh said the society initiated the programme to provide comfort knowing that it would be difficult for some members to save enough to acquire the appliances on their own.
Adejoh hinted that the society had between January this year and date disbursed about N91 million as loans to the members some of whom bought cars, built or renovated their houses among other benefits.
He listed the items distributed to members under the first batch of the programme as generating sets, refrigerators, deep freezers, plasma television sets to be paid for in six months at subsidised rate with a five per cent interest.
The chairman said over a thousand members had so far benefited from the loan scheme as he hinted that Christmas and Sallah packages were being planned to enable the members celebrate the yuletides with less stress.
