Mopamuro LG Chair Inherits Father’s Title

People saddled with the task of leadership have been asked to carry out such assignments with diligence and the fear of God.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada stated this at the conferment of traditional and honorary chieftaincy titles of Ojomo of Mopa land and Obarofo of Mopaland on Chief Folorunsho Daniyan by His Royal Highness, Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo (JP), the Elulu of Mopa and the entire Anumote clan of Mopa.

The Ojomo of Mopa land title was last held by Late Chief S.B.Daniyan, the father of the incumbent who passed on to glory in 2011.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, described the late Chief S.B. Daniyan the immediate past Ojomo as a unique personality who served the Mopa Community and the nation meritoriously.

The governor prayed that the new honour bestowed on his son Folorunsho Daniyan will bring joy and dynamism to the Mopa Community.

Awoniyi described the recipient as a worthy successor who will fit into roles expected of him, urged him not to waiver in his service to the community.

The Governor expressed joy that peace has gradually returned to Mopa land, urged the people to sustain the peace as no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancor.

Performing the conferment, His Royal Highness, Oba Julius Olufunsho Joledo, (JP), the Elulu of Mopa said the new title of Ojomo of Mopa and Obarofo of Mopa land conferred on Chief Folorunsho Daniyan was in recognition of his various contributions to the growth of Mopa land.

The titles conferred on Folorunsho Daniyan according to the Elulu of Mopa followed his tremendous humanitarian and communal service to the community of Mopa, Mopamuro and widely acknowledged in Okun land.

The Elulu called on the new Ojomo to redouble his selfless community service which he noted has endeared him to the heart of the people of the community.

Rev. Olawumi Daniyan in a message at the occasion, said the titles conferred on Folorunsho Daniyan was a call for him to render higher service to the community.

The clergyman called on him to remain steadfast in his sincerity to ideals that has always united the community.

The clergyman urged the new recipient to use the new titles in assisting and building the Mopa community of there dream. He also prayed God to grant him the strength and wisdom to pilot the affairs his new title has bestowed on him.

Born to the family of Chief S.B Daniyan on the 20th of April 1960 in Zaria, Chief Folunrunsho Daniyan the new Ojomo and Obarofo is a 1984 graduate of Agricultural Economics from the University of Ife now O.A.U.

A philanthropist who has always had the welfare of the people at heart, was instrumental to the establishment of Mopa Community bank.

Having worked in former Afribank and Premier Commercial Bank, Folorunsho Daniyan left the bank for the private sector. He was a Director in various companies amongst which are the I.P.W.A, U.N.T.L, Lolada investment Ltd and Mopa Microfinance Bank until he became the elected chairman of Mopamuro LGA.

Until his new chieftaincy titles, he was the Jagunna of Mopa land. He is happily married to Maryam and has four children.

A one time special Adviser on investment and that of Agriculture and food security to Governor Ibrahim Idris, Chief Folorunsho Daniyan is presently the Council Chairman of Mopamuro LGA having served as liaison officer of the local government for seven months.

Responding after the title, Chief Folorunsho Daniyan, the new Ojomo and Obarofo of Mopaland described the honour done him as a call to greater service for his community and humanity in general.

While promising to justify the confidence reposed on him by the Mopa community, he promised to rededicate himself to more service for humanity. He equally pledged to ensure that he renders service that will uplift and unite Mopa community with other neighboring communities now and in the future.

Highlights of the ceremony was the decoration of Chief Folorunsho Daniyan and the presentation of certificate to him by the Elulu.

High point of the conferment was the paying of homage and cultural display for the new Ojomo and Obarofo of Mopa land. Prayers where also offered for Mopa Community.

Guests were later treated to a reception.

Those who graced the occasion included one time Acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi, Chief Samuel Akande, former Deputy Governor and other dignitaries from across the States.
